SONET (Synchronous Optical Network) is the approved and widely accepted format for activating fiber-optic transmission system. This system is the core foundation of B-ISDN physical Internet connection.

SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) this type of Internet connection can support larger amount of data transmission via available copper telephone wires (POTS). Digital data transmissions are processed in the high-frequency platform of the telephone lines which can go as fast as 3 Mbps.
